──── QUALIFICATION FRAMEWORK

What It Takes to Earn the CFMP® Designation

The Certified Financial Management Professional (CFMP®) designation is granted to financial management practitioners who satisfy the requirements established by the Institute of Finance and Management (IFM).

Candidates must meet standards in four key areas: Education, Examination, Experience, and Ethics.

EDUCATION

Establish Your Professional Foundation

The CFMP® education program develops the knowledge, skills, and professional values expected of financial management practitioners in the workplace.

Candidates for CFMP® are required to hold a four-year bachelor’s degree in business. Students majoring in financial management at IFM-accredited universities may earn credits toward the education requirement.

EXAMINATION

Demonstrate Your Knowledge

Candidates must successfully pass the CFMP® certification examination after completing the required education program.

IFM recommends taking the examination through authorized providers that have successfully complied with the requirements established for CFMP® assessment.

EXPERIENCE

Apply Knowledge in Practice

Practical professional experience forms an essential part of CFMP® qualification and connects financial management knowledge with actual workplace responsibilities.

The experience requirement is intended to ensure that CFMP® professionals have developed the practical capability expected of the designation and can apply professional knowledge effectively in the workplace.

ETHICS

Uphold Professional Standards

CFMP® professionals are expected to demonstrate responsible and ethical professional conduct.

IFM has adopted the IESBA Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, which establishes fundamental principles of professional ethics and reflects the profession’s responsibility to act in the public interest.
