Find Your Place Within the IFM Community

The Institute of Finance and Management (IFM) provides five types of personal membership designed to recognize individuals at different stages of their academic, professional, and leadership journey in finance.

From students developing their foundation in financial management to experienced professionals recognized for significant contributions to the profession, each membership category reflects a different level of qualification, experience, achievement, or service.

The five personal membership categories are Certified Member, Member, Associate Member, Fellow, and Honorary Fellow.

Five Levels of Professional Membership

CFMP® addresses areas of financial management that influence organizational decisions, financial performance, resource allocation, and long-term value.

01. CERTIFIED MEMBER

For individuals who are, or have been, actively engaged in finance and have successfully completed all requirements of the Certified Financial Management Professional (CFMP®) qualification.

Certified Membership recognizes professionals who have fulfilled the requirements associated with the CFMP® designation.

02. MEMBER

For individuals pursuing the CFMP® certification who possess the professional and academic qualifications necessary to practice as financial management practitioners.

This membership category provides a professional connection to IFM while individuals continue their pathway toward CFMP® certification.

03. ASSOCIATE MEMBER

For students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in financial management or another business-related program with at least six units of finance subjects.

Master’s and doctoral researchers, including Ph.D. students, may also join as affiliate members. For progression toward certification or higher membership levels, applicants are required to obtain the Certified Financial Modelling Analyst (CFMA) designation.

04. FELLOW

Fellowship recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to IFM and its aims and objectives.

Candidates for Fellowship must be nominated by other members, with the process of becoming a Fellow managed by the Fellowship Committee.

05. HONORARY FELLOW

Honorary Fellowship represents the highest honor bestowed by IFM and recognizes individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the aims of society or to the finance community in general.

Honorary Fellows are selected by the Advisory Board and Board of Management, regardless of whether they have previously been paid members of IFM.
